Car for Disabled

In Hungary, this Kenguru is a great way to get around for the disabled. Too bad it would probably not come to the US with our stringent crash test requirements. Posted by Picasa

I think this is a great idea. I worked for a county hospital in Texas and saw first hand how difficult it was for the disabled to get to and from appointments at the hospital. I checked out a great wesbite with tons of information on the subject.

Very cool concept and much better self-image booster than the old 'Ironsides' van. With the aging population, maybe we'll see a trend towards a US-Certified version of the Kenguru zipping around DFW one day.

p.s. - cool site!

This is a great addition for people in wheelchairs. It takes a lot of effort to get disabled person to actually drive. And it takes forever to make the modifications to the regular van. Change the door alignment, put the lift on, add the ramp etc. And after all of that you have to teach the client how to drive. Scary! I think that the most time consuming is when the client has to transfer himself from the wheelchair to the car seat. Looks like the yellow Kenguru will eliminate that problem. What a great idea to give somebody his independence back. I can not picture this car zipping on I-35 but around the neighborhoods I will be OK with that.

This is a great power to the people type invention. This is more specifically a great power to the disabled people type invention. It is unfortunate that our nation (USA) is so dead in government regulation that this type of offering is not possible at the moment. When will the bureaucrats realize that these types of inventions are not what cause highway deaths, but rather unsafe driving. Like motorcyclists without helmets are safer than the driver of this car?

You should communicate with the National Motorists Association (NMA) and equivalents to have them press your concerns with the state and federal legislatures so that someday these types of cars and the 100 MPG cars can be sold in this country.
